Dark chocolate its my life hype machine9/27/2023 ![]() ![]() Spring water has the right balance of what you want (useful minerals), with little to none of what you don’t (chlorine, heavy metals, contaminants).įor those of us not quite that lucky and who also do not have a line item for water in our grocery budgets, the next best thing is filtered water-either through a Brita pitcher you fill and stick in the refrigerator, a Pur filter you attach straight to your kitchen faucet, or whatever high-quality filter is available near you.Ī small pinch of sea salt into distilled or filtered water should help reset the balance. In a perfect world, you’d be able to suckle from the teat of Mother Nature and drink spring water exclusively. ![]() Morning Mineral Cocktail 12 ounces filtered water 3 grams sea salt 1/4 lemon, squeezed Yet we still reach for coffee in the morning, in large part because these adrenal effects are so damn good at dealing with the other problem we face when we wake up: we’re still tired. The hydrating water in the coffee is somewhat offset by the dehydrating nature of caffeine. That’s three simple things to do within twenty minutes of waking-and your day will be primed for perfection. So hydrate immediately (not with coffee!), then seek light and get moving to reset your internal clock. You want to take control of your day from the word go. But make no mistake about it, your goal is to prepare and own one full day, like a total boss. ![]() That will only help you troubleshoot and be fully ready for that very first fully owned day. It could be next week or next month or next fiscal quarter, but as you read, feel free to employ any of the techniques you find in these pages as you go along. You can now purchase a 12-pack of any flavor for $47, get the Mixed Box of Almond Crunch and Fudge for $37, or try a Starter Pack of six for $24.Ultimately, we are building toward one single day for you to plan, in advance, to completely own. While they're small in size, each single serving (one square) has 170 calories and packs six grams of protein. Also, it's worth noting that just one square is pretty effective when it comes to killing those cravings (though that hasn't stopped me from eating two at a time, they're just so good!) After I started eating these chocolate bars, my tummy has been much quieter between lunch and dinnertime (although I'll still reach for the occasional bag of potato chips if I'm having a late dinner). Plus, it paired so well with the dark chocolate-which isn't too sweet at all.įinal verdict: So, did these really help curb my cravings? Absolutely, and this is coming from someone who keeps her desk drawer filled to the brim with treats. The peanut butter is rich and flavorful with a slightly fudgy consistently. But guys, this is actually nothing like Reese's. My thoughts: As someone who absolutely hates Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, I confess, I was a bit nervous to try this one. What's inside: The bar includes raw unsweetened chocolate, Yacon syrup, oat flour, peanuts, peanut butter, dates, hazelnut butter, pink salt and brown rice milk powder. Could these bars really prevent me from snacking on Cheez-Its several times a day? And more importantly, would they taste like actual chocolate, or more like grainy protein bars? Read on for my honest take on each flavor. Now, as someone who snacks incessantly between meals, I was skeptical at first. Not only do these bars come in three flavors (Fudge Yah, Peanut Butta and Almond Crunch), but they're filled with healthy-for-you ingredients, like hemp protein, which helps repair muscle cells and regulate brain function, Sacha Inchi protein, which helps lower cholesterol and yacon syrup, which boosts energy. To offer some background about Mid-Day Squares, the brand describes their treats as "everything a chocolate bar isn't" and "everything a protein bar wishes it was." They're designed to curb mid-day cravings and are 100 percent organic, vegan and gluten-free. But given that I'd never tried a brand of chocolate that ticks all of these boxes (FYI, not counting protein bars here), I felt it was my duty to give these a shot. I mean, a chocolate bar that's loaded with clean protein and fiber, without tons of added sugar? That sounded almost too good to be true. So when I got the opportunity to sample Mid-Day Squares, I just had to try them out. They’re my favorite snack whenever I have a sweet tooth, and I’ve tried countless samples at chocolate events, from A Slice of Brooklyn’s Chocolate Tour to Salon Du Chocolat's annual Chocolate Show. If I could get away with eating sweets all the time, then chocolate bars would account for roughly 80 percent of my diet. ![]()
